Admiral’s Inn on Tybee Island consistently receives positive feedback regarding its convenient location, proximity to the beach, restaurants, and shops, and the friendliness of its staff. While many guests appreciate the clean rooms and comfortable beds, some reviews mention dated furnishings and maintenance needs, as well as potential noise issues.
We had never visited Tybee before, and the Admiral's Inn was the perfect starting place. The beach is within easy walking distance, as are a multitude of breakfast spots, bars and restaurants. Our room was nicely furnished (GREAT MATTRESSES!) with good water pressure, and the cleaning staff was wonderful. Of particular value was the assistance of Cecilia, who gave us fantastic advice on places to eat and things to do. After getting to know us a little bit, she gave us directions to the perfect spot to watch Tybee Island's justifiably famous sunset that isn't listed in any of the brochures. Her kindness alone made this a wonderful vacation experience.
Dawn at the front desk was phenomenal! We had kids, with alot of questions and we needed towels and towels and towels. Despite having many people in the lobby she was calm and patient. Would definitely come back.
No elevator and the room was clean but some of the outlets did not work, microwave handle broke and out behide TV hanging out of wall. The bed was not as comfortable as I would like. But I would come back again. The staff was nice, good location, walking distance from all restaurants and downtown area.
First impressions really make a difference. Front desk woman, not pleasant... at all. Some days are just that way but when guests come in excited for vacation, maybe fake it. Room clean but needs some updates. (Toilet seat loose, rust on lamps, headboards in rough shape) The walk to beach is perfect!
The hotel is older but it was clean. Beach hotels are usually hit or miss and this one was really clean. Everyone was really friendly and you have free onsite parking. The beach is actors the street basically. I was able to check in early and check out was simple. There wasn’t any extra fees which I appreciated. You can hear everything that goes on in the hallway and the hotel can use a little more proactive tlc. Example would be just touching up the paint in high traffic areas. Otherwise I would stay again
Property is slightly worn, but the staff was fantastic and the location was superb for me - I was in town to run the half marathon, and the start line was had a bloc away. Close to the pier and a five minute walk from the beach. Quiet, ample parking.
We love Tybee Island and Admiral's Inn is lovely! The rooms are fantastic and exceptionally clean. All of the staff is so nice and a special shout out to Cecilia who went above and beyond for us! The location is very convenient to get to the beach and shops.
Stayed the week after Christmas. Hotel was not crowded. Check in was fast and friendly. Staff was very nice. The hotel, grounds, rooms, and all facilities are well kept and clean. Our room was afirst floor facing the front lot. Beds were comfortable and clean. Plenty of pillows and blankets. Shower was great with a rain head and plenty of pressure and hot water. A/C worked good and kept the room cool. Best feature is the proximity to the beach, pier, and all of the bars and restaurants on Tybrisa. Pool area was nice and the pool water is warm. Coffee is available in the lobby each morning as well as a coffee maker in the room. We had a pleasant stay and booked for the next year already. Just a note and not a complaint as we're not picky Travellers. We appreciate a clean room and a nice bed, we dont spend a lot of time there other than sleeping. That being said...Yes there will be sand on the floors, it's a beach hotel. Some of the furnishings are dated, but this hotel gets a lot of traffic and the staff does a great job to keep it nice. Parking is free, and that's a big deal here. This hotel is a great value and the people are friendly. We are looking forward to our next stay.
Our experience had more bad moments than good which culminated with house keeping entering our room before we checked out while we were away and threw away our wedding cake from the evening before. The front desk said they had our room key so they checked us out. When I showed her I still had the keys she had nothing to say nor made any attempt to make it right. Will not return... constant smell of weed, advertised amenities not provided, poor quality room, etc.
Well, I hate to say this but if we could have booked our stay elsewhere - we certainly would have done that had we known what we were in for. The first thing you might notice is that they're currently (October 2025) undergoing renovations. My best guess is that our particular room had not yet received any renovations. The furniture was worn and uninviting. The shower is somewhat tricky - it wasn't until our third or fourth shower when we learned how to get the hot water going. The cable TV situation is very unstable - we actually had to bring the front desk staff in our room to get it working, but we still experienced the cable disconnecting throughout the night. And, the last issue that I'd like to mention is also the first thing that you will probably notice upon entering your room, should you choose to stay here - HUMIDITY. Long story short, my better half had to get out of bed multiple times throughout the night to adjust the temperature while I sweated more than a P90X workout. We both left the Admiral's Inn like we had gotten absolutely no rest. Aside from the negative stuff that we experienced, I would like to mention that the staff are very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Honestly, this really wouldn't be a bad place to stay if they managed the Admiral's Inn appearance and utilities better than the current situation.
