Hotel Tybee offers a convenient location near the beach, restaurants, and shops on Tybee Island. While some reviews highlight cleanliness, friendly staff, and comfortable rooms, concerns regarding outdated facilities, inconsistent service, unexpected fees, and cleanliness issues have been raised. Overall, it's a decent choice for a budget-friendly beach getaway, but improvements are needed to elevate the experience.
PERFECT Location! Walking distance to everything you would want to do. Yes, the hotel is a little older, but it is clean and kept up. Splash pad for the kiddos, two pools and steps to the beach. Definitely a solid choice!
We came down for the weekend and walking in the floors were absolutely disgusting. There was sand and grime in all areas of the room. The air felt like I might as well jump in the pool and take a deep breath. It smelled like mildew the entire stay. There was mold in and around the shower. The “dune view” was just a parking lot and a hill. We paid wayy too much for the room for the toilet to touch the shower. The only pro I can think of is that there were beach chairs and towels included. Other than that. I do not recommend to anyone.
Front desk lacked any kind of welcoming energy. First impression is everything. The hotel rents out the parking spaces for the public to access the beach. It was the busiest beach i have been too. And I've been to alot of beaches. Hotel needs alot of updates . Outside is dated but I can say the rooms were clean.
Perfect little beach hotel for a weekend getaway. The location honestly can’t be beat — easy walk to the beach, restaurants, bars, and everything happening on Tybee. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and the overall vibe was relaxed and easy. Not overly fancy, just exactly what you want for a fun beach weekend where you spend more time enjoying the island than sitting in the room.
The room was wonderful. The view was amazing you can see the pier and the boats coming and going.. The website said free breakfeast but, they stopped it during covid. So no breakfast but other then that. We had a lovely stay.
My stay at Hotel Tybee was great! It’s an older hotel with an interesting history, love knowing it’s been a part of Tybee vacations for so long! My rom was clean, everything I needed. The location is great, loved the availability of the bicycles! It would be great for families with the pool and splash pad. All the staff I dealt with were super friendly, accommodating. I will definitely stay there again.
We visited Tybee Island as an extension of our Savannah, Georgia trip in February. It was nice and quite, the room was clean and comfortable. Not a lot going on in February but we walked to the beach (with our winter coats on) and the ocean breeze was refreshing. The only change i would make is to request a 3rd or 4th floor room to have an unobstructed view of the ocean. Everyone was very friendly and the food we ate was delicious.
Our stay at Hotel Tybee was absolutely incredible from start to finish. The location alone is unbeatable! Located steps from the beach with beautiful views but what truly made our trip special was the staff. Trinity at the front desk was phenomenal. She welcomed us like family, answered every question with a smile, and made sure we had everything we needed. You can tell she genuinely cares about guests having a great experience. Doug from maintenance also went completely above and beyond. When we needed help, with a minor TV issue, he handled it quickly and kindly, and his positive attitude did not go unnoticed. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, helpful, and welcoming, including the General Manager, Brett! The whole atmosphere made us feel relaxed and taken care of. Hotel Tybee isn’t just a great place to stay, it’s a place where people truly make the difference. We can’t wait to come back!
The best workers in Jess, Mary and Doug. We were attending a scrapbooking crop and Jess took super care of us in the crop room. She went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Such a hard worker who simply wants your experience to be the best! Mary tidied up our room and also worked the crop floor. Doug was on duty in crop room over weekend and kept our water and ice full. He made sure we were warm too. Loved the attention!
Front desk was super nice! Wanda maybe was her name. Got to our room sheets was nasty. Changed rooms Jess helped and was amazing!! Curtains hanging had molds on them. Floors looked like they hadn't been mopped ever. Hair all over the bathroom. Paid $226 total. That will be our last time there. We should have left but was so exhausted. The walk to the beach was nice and view but that was about it.
